**The yew at Breamore (pronounced Bremmer) is situated alongside the path to the remarkable Anglo Saxon church.**

From a distance it looks like it stems from a vast trunk, but it is actually made up from several trunks that rise like a cupped hand from the ground. 

It's difficult to define what makes up the ingredients of a place - but this tree both contributes to the sense of place, alongside the church, and yet, is a place in itself. 

When I climbed inside the tree, I experienced a remarkable sense of detachment - as if this was my world and all that was in it. Very special.

## St. Mary's, Breamore

Perhaps one of the most significant churches of Saxon origin in the country. A remarkable survival of the late C10th and early C11th. It's a must see and not far from Salisbury and Long Crichel.
