**Entry: Norman tympanum and Saxon style carving at All Saints, Billesley, Warwickshire.**

The church is reputedly where Shakespeare was married.

The two fragments from the former church are held in the south transept. They are both from the C12th. The tympanum would have sat over a doorway into the church and is thought to be from the Herefordshire School. It depicts a man being chased by a dragon being aided by a dove. The Saxon style carving shows a tree or vine motif.

The Saxon carving, in particular, is an object that [taught me about light and slow time.](https://www.digest.andymarshall.co/revelation/) Photographing this church was a key part of my creative journey.
