# ✨ Treasure Hoard: The Glass House at Benmore Botanic Gardens.

**Benmore Botanic Garden is the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh’s mountainside garden on the Cowal Peninsula. Spreading across 120 acres, it became RBGE’s first Regional Garden in 1929 and now holds collections of trees, rhododendrons and plants from regions including the Himalayas, China, Japan and the Americas.**

But this is no ordinary glasshouse. It is a glasshouse in the sky.

Reaching it is part of the magic. The path draws you steadily upwards, through dense planting and beneath the high overstory of trees. Then, almost without warning, planes of glass and metal emerge below, catching the silver Scottish light.

From above, the glasshouse seems less built upon the slope than suspended within it. Its glazed roof rises out of the trees, at once practical and strangely dreamlike: a place made for nurturing plants, hovering among the plants themselves.

The destination matters, but so does the ascent. By the time the glasshouse reveals itself, the journey has altered how you see it. Architecture, landscape and anticipation become an experience - a working building transformed, through locale and approach, into a real treasure.
