The sun rises between the silhouetted towers of Beverley Minster in a warm orange dawn sky.
A celebration. Beverley Minster at sunrise, from my dawn series.

In my words.

I recrafted this image from an original photograph of dawn at Beverley Minster. The colours come directly from the warmth of that early morning sunrise, while the geometry carries the Minster into a different form. It has the DNA of the original photograph, both in its colour tones and its focused, uplifting presence.

I return to it often. It lifts my spirits and helps me focus. For me, it has a transcendental quality, taking me beyond the immediate rush of the day and bringing me back to the present.

It is also infused with the story of its capture. I spent around ten years returning to photograph the sunrise at Beverley. Clouds, timing and a change of viewpoint all played their part. That attention lives on in the image.

Whatever the time of day, I hope it brings a little of that morning warmth into your space, with a moment of mindfulness and presence.
