The Coade Stone Foord Bowes Monument, Beverley Minster, East Riding, Yorkshire.

This is a real hidden gem. No crowds in this area of the south transept. A peaceful corner with a remarkable monument of a winged figure holding an open book and resting one foot on the cannon.

I've photographed three generations of Marshall's at this point - with hands on the butt end of the canon (see how shiny it is from the touch of thousands).

This isn't made of stone but of Coade Stone a secret mix that went to the grave.
