The first day of travel - brought unexpected joy at Gumfreston. I was meant to photograph the church today (Tuesday) but the weather forecast was better for Monday - so I headed down to the church to find it all lit up.

This was such a special trip, because I have been here several times before to photograph its progress through conservation. On my first visit I saw an eye peeping from behind the flaking limewash. Now the face has been revealed and what a remarkable transformation.

Come along with me this week - check out the C13th face and follow me live as I travel across Wales into the Cotswolds and then to Norfolk.
