Liverpool Anglican Cathedral is Britain’s largest cathedral. Designed in the Gothic style by Giles Gilbert Scott, its traditional exterior conceals a modern behemoth of brick, steel and concrete.

The journey into the tower is essential. Inside, it feels less like a cathedral than an immense industrial grain silo: cavernous, raw and utterly unexpected.

Climbing the stairs is like crossing an alien landscape - more exhilarating than any roller coaster, and certainly not for the faint-hearted.
