Andy Marshall's Genius Loci Digest: 2 Oct 26
By the time I reached Dinas Brân, I was starting to see Offa’s Dyke differently. Perhaps it was not the beginning of a border landscape at all, but one monumental episode in a much older story.

A multimedia resource hub from my Offa's Dyke walk
Walking Offa’s Dyke, I set out to understand a landscape of division - and found something that brings us together.
What I love about walking is the way connections with features in the landscape evolve. My eyes lock on to a building and, as the paths and lanes twist and turn, I follow its relationship with the surrounding hills until it slips out of sight.
The gaps allow things to reveal their character - the space around a form, the lapse in a conversation, the silence that lets us recognise what we’ve heard.
