I notice the ridge finial detail - it curves downwards and cups the gable - it reminds me of Sir Basil Spence’s Coventry Cathedral. The covered entrance at Coventry echoes the protective curve of the barn finial.

Whilst walking along the drover’s lane I think about the energy invested in these walls over the countless years. Some of them have medieval cores. Each wall is laid by hands that stretch across generations.

You can clearly see the line of the river Wharfe by following the mist from Grass Wood along to Linton and beyond.
