This church wears the surrounding landscape like a comfortable coat. The interior is simple and sparse—the glory of which is that the Norman chancel arch seems to shine at dawn and dusk. It’s not the biggest chancel arch, but its scale within these small pockets of space makes it seem otherworldly.

Light gathers along its carved chevrons, turning solid stone into something almost weightless. Beyond it, the little chancel feels held apart from ordinary time, a quiet chamber suspended in the thing place between earth and heaven.

Every footstep, shadow and change in weather becomes magnified here. Whilst photographing the church, I heard a soft padding echoing near the altar - looking up, I saw a mouse scurrying across the altar rail.
